Phnom Penh: The Phnom Penh City Council said that in addition to maintaining security and cracking down on online scams, the Phnom Penh City Administration has also carried out sewer and canal restoration work, which it hopes will prevent flooding this year.

The above statement by the Phnom Penh City Council was made at the 25th ordinary meeting of the 4th mandate of the Phnom Penh City Council on June 11, 2026, under the chairmanship of Mr. Choup Khon, member of the Phnom Penh City Council, and Mr. Huot Hay, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh City, at the Phnom Penh City Hall.

Mr. Choob Khon emphasized that the Phnom Penh City Council would like to fully appreciate and support the leadership of the Royal Government and the leadership of Mr. Khuong Sreng, the Governor of Phnom Penh, who has made Phnom Penh maintain excellent security, especially in suppressing online scams, with the police, military police, district authorities, and all commune authorities working together closely and implementing simultaneously to eliminate online scams from the local area.

Mr. Choob Khon stated that in addition to maintaining security and cracking down on online scams, the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, District Administration, and Sangkat Administration have also implemented work to restore sewers and canals at the same time, which is hoped that this year there will be no flooding due to rainfall.

At the same time, Mr. Huot Hay responded that the crackdown on online scams under the leadership of Mr. Khuong Sreng was directly ordered, firmly and relentlessly, using approximately 80% of the work time to eliminate these crimes from the ground up.

Mr. Huot Hay said that cracking down on technology-based fraud is really complicated, with the (ONLINE SCAMS) group having branched out from large locations to small apartments and villas. However, we continue to work with determination and without hesitation to ensure that Cambodia has a white economy.
