Interior Minister reminds civil servants to be role models in enforcing traffic laws for citizens

Kampot: On the occasion of presiding over the 17th National Road Safety Week held at Prek Kampong Bay Beach in Kampot city, Kampot province on June 15, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the National Road Safety Committee, emphasized that civil servants are the most important core actors in respecting and enforcing traffic laws to set an example for citizens to follow.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister also expressed great concern because traffic accidents continue to occur every day with no sign of a significant decrease.

The Minister of Interior also called on all road users, transport companies and all relevant parties to jointly follow the valuable recommendations of Samdech Techo Hun Sen. Sen, former Prime Minister and President of the Senate, called for a traffic accident-free day and tomorrow and gave 11 key recommendations to all road users to demonstrate their willingness to obey the law with a sense of responsibility.

It should be noted that in the first five months of 2026, the main causes of accidents nationwide included speeding (46%), failure to respect the right of way (22%), failure to yield (12%), careless overtaking (7%), wrong turns (5%), drunk driving (4%), violation of traffic signs (2%), drowsiness (1%), and vehicle technical factors (1%).
