Phnom Penh: The National Bank of Cambodia and the Ministry of Posts launched a campaign to verify the identity of SIM card users with their bank/payment accounts on June 17, 2026.
The campaign aims to protect citizens’ digital security and cut off the roots of crimes through technology systems to eliminate SIM cards without clear user identities and being used in the banking system.
Through this initiative, citizens can verify their SIM card identities in the SIM Verifier Mini App, which is available in the DG SuperApp digital service platform, which is connected to the automation systems of banking and financial institutions. This initiative will also contribute to promoting digital transformation and innovation in the telecommunications and banking sectors, which are key to supporting the digital economy and society in Cambodia.
Ms. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, said that the launch of the campaign to verify the identity of SIM card users with their bank/payment accounts is to officially open a page and publicly advertise to users to be aware of the above verification mechanism and to encourage and encourage wider participation in the implementation of the above mechanism.
Dr. Chea Vandet, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, requested that the technical working group, mobile operators, and provincial post offices cooperate to promote this campaign broadly and be prepared to resolve any potential issues, as well as to organize a SIM card identity verification service directly to the location.
