Phnom Penh: Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, said that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is an important backbone in workforce development and a mechanism that helps connect labor market needs with human resource supply in the fastest and most effective way.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 9th National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Day at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center on June 16, the Minister said: “TVET is the backbone and the place where the demand and supply of labor force are brought closer together the fastest. Therefore, working together to promote the promotion and development of the TVET sector is a duty for all of us Cambodians.”

He stated that promoting the promotion and development of the TVET sector This is not just an admission of guilt by the royal government or the training institutions, but a collective duty of all Cambodians who want to see the country’s industrial, craft, and service sectors grow and become more interconnected.

According to the Minister, when the country has a sufficient skilled workforce, it will help the industrial, craft and service sectors to be better integrated, increase productivity and create higher added value for the national economy.
At the same time, the Minister considered TVET as an important means and a vehicle that citizens can rely on to obtain professional skills, decent jobs, good income and opportunities to improve their living standards sustainably.
