Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, said that doctors must implement the plan into concrete actions so that one health is the core of strength, focusing on human, animal and environmental health.

On the occasion of leading the second leadership-level meeting in April to review work progress and set future directions, Professor Chheang Ra thanked leaders, civil servants, and health workers at all levels who strive to fulfill their duties with care and responsibility, making the health sector stronger and more progressive.

The Minister highlighted the priority work following the meeting in France on the theme of One Health, which focuses on human, animal and environmental health. His Excellency said that One Health is linked to key topics: animal carriers of diseases that can be transmitted to humans and disease-causing agents, antimicrobial resistance, food safety and the effects of pollution, which must be given high attention to strengthen prevention rather than cure.

The Minister recommended close cooperation with relevant ministries Local authorities, especially development partners and the private sector, to promote and ensure a balance of sustainable development between human, animal and environmental health.

In addition, the Minister instructed leaders and health officials to develop educational activities to increase public awareness of food safety and methods of preventing infectious diseases.
