Mr. Khuong Sreng participates in the Tokyo-ASEAN Cities Dialogue for Sustainability (TOKYO-SEADS) in Japan

Tokyo: Mr. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, on the afternoon of April 29, 2026, was invited to participate in the Tokyo-ASEAN Cities Dialogue for Sustainability (TOKYO-SEADS), which was organized after the successful conclusion of the 3rd Global Network of Sustainable Cities (G-NETS) Summit.

Ms. Daw Samphor, spokesperson for the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, confirmed that during the dialogue, the Mayor of Tokyo and the governors or representatives of capital cities of ASEAN countries made presentations on the topic of “measures to combat typhoons, floods, and urban infrastructure development” for their cities. In this regard, Mr. Seng Vannak, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh, on behalf of Mr. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, made a presentation on “Resilience and Natural Disaster Management of the Phnom Penh Administration for Sustainability and Inclusion”.

The spokesperson continued that after the presentation and participation in the comments to exchange and share experiences Between each city, including (Tokyo and cities in the ASEAN region), the Mayor of Tokyo then submitted to the meeting for review and approval the draft joint statement of the Tokyo-Southeast Asia Capitals Dialogue for Sustainability Joint Statement (TOKYO-SEADS), focusing on the main theme of “Storm and Flood Mitigation and Urban Infrastructure Development to Create Resilient and Sustainable Cities”.

Before concluding, the Mayor of Tokyo also announced the program of the G-NETS Senior Technical Officers’ Meeting scheduled to be held in May 2027 and the 4th G-NETS Summit to be held in 2028. The Mayor invited the mayors of the capital and cities and all relevant senior officials to participate in these important meetings.
