China continues to support Cambodia in environmental protection, low-carbon emissions, and combating climate change.

Phnom Penh: Dr. Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment, during his mission to China on April 29, 2026, met with Mr. Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment of China in Shanghai, China, to strengthen cooperation on environmental protection, low-carbon emissions, and combating climate change.

On the occasion, Dr. Eang Sophallet spoke about the process of promoting “cleanliness” in Cambodia and thanked His Excellency Huang Runqiu for providing solar street lights and solar home lights to the Ministry of Environment in the past.

The lights were provided to people in communities and nature protection areas in the Te Teuk Phum community, Phnom Knang Phsar community in Oral district, Kampong Speu province, on Koh Sralao island in Koh Kong district, Koh Kong province, and installed in five regional tree nurseries of the Ministry of Environment, including Tbong Khmum, Kampong Speu, Siem Reap, Mondulkiri, and Koh Kong provinces.

The Minister of Ecology and Environment of China expressed his appreciation and high appreciation for the success of the Cambodian Ministry of Environment in promoting “cleanliness” in Cambodia.

Huang Runqiu said that 2,000 solar street lights and a lighting system will be provided An additional 3,000 sets of solar panels for homes will be provided to the Ministry of Environment for use for public benefit, especially in Tbong Khmum province and protected areas, to help communities have access to electricity and improve their living conditions.
