As International Labor Day approaches, unions say the Ministry of Labor’s solution is fast and highly effective.

Phnom Penh: As International Workers’ Day approaches, Cambodian unions have praised the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training for providing excellent and fast public services related to dispute resolution that is thorough and accurate in all aspects to reduce costs and save time.

Fa Sali, President of the National Union of Trade Unions, said, “In the second half of 2025 or early 2026, I see progress and the resolution of problems for our workers is a thorough, fast, and timely resolution of disputes.”

He emphasized the resolution of complaints and other issues through the Hotline 1297, an achievement that has helped solve many problems, providing convenience, speed, and more proactiveness in resolving these disputes without the need for an official letter, as long as they are resolved quickly and according to the reality that workers are facing difficulties.

Mr. Pav Sina, President of the Workers’ Movement Union, noted that in the intervention to resolve disputes between workers and employers, both the leadership and officials of the Ministry of Labor have really paid high attention to resolving disputes for the parties to the dispute more quickly than in the past.

He said “Promoting professional relations is better, training skills for young people of all levels is more extensive, helping hundreds of thousands of Thai workers find jobs, especially measures to promote health and safety in the workplace are better. I think it is a difficult thing, but the Ministry of Labor can do it.”

According to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, the ministry has made efforts to protect the interests, ensure the legitimate rights of the parties, and strengthen peace in the workplace in response to the recommendations of President Hun Sen to improve labor mechanisms and provide better public services.

The Ministry of Labor has continued to strengthen the labor dispute resolution mechanism by increasing the labor dispute resolution rate and intervening to resolve a total of 41 strike cases and 41 protest cases as of February 2026, which is an achievement that reflects the maturity of relevant actors and the effectiveness of the out-of-court labor dispute resolution mechanism as well as the professional capabilities of labor dispute resolution officers.
