Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, said that the environment and health are major challenges of the current era that require better protection.
This statement by the Minister of Health at the signing ceremony of the memorandum of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environment on reducing the use of plastic in hospitals and health centers on April 30, 2026.
Professor Chheang Ra said that water, soil, air and daily environmental pollution have direct consequences on human health, both in the short term and in the long term, responsible for approximately 25% worldwide, contributing to cancer and chronic diseases and also affecting animals and ecosystems.
He said that in the face of this reality, the Ministry of Health has collaborated with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to support the ONE HEALTH strategy, including human health, Animal health and environmental protection.
He emphasized that protecting nature means protecting life.
