The Prime Minister meets with civil servants, staff, workers, and employees of the Preah Sihanouk Autonomous Port

Phnom Penh: Samdech Thibault Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on the morning of May 1, 2026, met with civil servants, staff, and workers of the Preah Sihanouk Autonomous Port on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of International Workers’ Day, May 1, 2026, under the theme “Together to Build Wealth for Decent Work” and the 30th anniversary of Japan’s Official Development Assistance for the Preah Sihanouk Autonomous Port (1996-2026).

The International Workers’ Day commemoration ceremony has been held by the Royal Government of Cambodia every year since the liberation of Cambodia on January 7, 1979, to commemorate the historic event of the international workers’ movement 140 years ago. In addition to organizing the meeting, the Royal Government of Cambodia has always paid great attention and thought to promoting the protection of the rights and freedoms of workers and employees’ professional organizations and the harmonization of professional relations by strengthening the full implementation of the Labor Law, the Trade Union Law, the Social Security Law, the Minimum Wage Law, policies, strategic plans and international labor conventions in order to ensure good working conditions, occupational safety and health that protect the interests of workers, employees and employers, along with considering the negotiation and increase of the minimum wage, seniority bonuses and other benefits on a regular basis.

At the same time, in the current context where Cambodia, like many other countries, is facing difficulties caused by the global crisis, through the implementation of the right policies of the current Royal Government, Cambodia has been overcoming many major difficulties and obstacles in order to promote the national economy to regain progress and improve the living standards of its citizens, especially by promoting the activities of the private sector in production, business, trade and all kinds of services to create jobs and jobs for citizens, workers and employees, which will increase income and improve living standards. This demonstrates the high level of attention the Royal Government pays to all employees, workers, and unions present and carrying out work activities in Cambodia.
