Interior Minister praises Women’s Association for paying attention to retired women officials

Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha, Minister of the Ministry of Interior, and Ms. Ke Suon Sophi Sar Sokha highly appreciated and valued the efforts of the Cambodian Women’s Association for Peace and Development branch committee of the Ministry of Interior in organizing an important event to connect feelings, love, and remember and pay tribute to retired female officials, even though they have all retired.

This statement was made on the occasion of the Deputy Prime Minister and Mrs. Ke Suon Sophi Sar Sokha presiding over a meeting with retired women of the Ministry of Interior at the Ministry of Interior headquarters on April 30, 2026. The ceremony was attended by the Executive President, Vice President, members, and members of the Cambodian Women’s Association for Peace and Development, Ministry of Interior, a total of 163 people.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that this ceremony is important for the Ministry of Interior as well as the branch committee of the Cambodian Women’s Association for Peace and Development, Ministry of Interior By showing concern for female retirees. Even though Madam has retired, the ministry still values all female retirees as a repository of knowledge and experience, helping to pave the way for the next generation of officials.

Ms. Chou Bun Eng, Executive Director of the Cambodian Women’s Association for Peace and Development, Ministry of Interior, said The Cambodian Women’s Association for Peace and Development was founded on December 2, 1978, and has changed its name four times in line with social evolution, from the National Salvation Women’s Association, the Cambodian Revolutionary Women’s Association, the Cambodian Women’s Association, and from 1999 to the present, the Cambodian Women’s Association for Peace and Development. The association has branches throughout ministries, institutions, and the capital, provinces, cities, districts, and khans, as well as networks to localities and the private sector.

It should be noted that the branch committee of the Women’s Association of the Ministry of Interior has prepared a structure consisting of the following members: the honorary class consists of 15 members, the executive class consists of 55 members, the secretariat consists of 46 women’s association branches in organizations under the Ministry of Interior and 6 equivalent levels with honorary ranks, 41 of whom are presidents and wives of organization leaders, 116 executive level members, and 500 registered members.
