Phnom Penh: As of the end of March 2026, the number of factories and enterprises in Cambodia has increased to 47,029, providing job opportunities to tens of thousands of people. This was reported by Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, on the morning of May 1.

Mr. Sun Mesa said: “Factories and enterprises in Cambodia, as of March 31, have increased from 46,649 to 47,029. By the end of 2026, factories and enterprises mean that our factories and enterprises have increased by 380 compared to last year.
Along with the increase in the number of factories and enterprises, this has provided opportunities for more than 70,000 people to have jobs. In addition, as the head of the Royal Government, the Ministry of Labor always pays attention to, values, and promotes the rights, freedoms, and benefits of both employees and self-employed individuals, ensuring equal opportunities, decent work, decent working conditions and wages, and good professional relations. This was further confirmed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Mr. Sam Soeun, President of the National Confederation of Labor of Cambodia, praised the increase in the number of factories and enterprises by the beginning of 2026, which indicates that despite the crisis of the war of aggression from Thailand on Cambodian territory, as well as the global oil crisis, However, Cambodia still has an increase in new investment in all sectors.
He said: “When there are more factories, job opportunities and competition to attract labor will increase. Benefits will be provided better to workers, especially our former workers. They will be able to get more job opportunities and compete better in the labor market.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Horn Kimhok, President of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Cambodia, sees the growth of enterprises that have been operating in Cambodia as a positive sign for the employment sector in Cambodia. In addition, it shows that investors trust the complete peace and security factor and the favorable investment environment.
He said: “The increase in factories and enterprises means that Cambodia has political stability and a good investment environment that attracts investors to invest, which helps create job opportunities, increase income, and promote national economic growth.”


Of course, the Royal Government of Cambodia, both in the previous and new mandates, always works to attract new investors to create job opportunities for the people.
