Kandal: Dr. Kao Thach, the Royal Government Delegate in charge of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), was invited to meet and greet more than 500 farmers in Loek Dek district, Kandal province on the morning of May 14, 2026.

The meeting was held in the premises of the Loekdek District School, with the honorable participation of Mr. Khon Serey Ratha, Deputy Governor of Kandal Provincial Government, Mr. Chap Chanvithya, Governor of Loekdek District Government, the Techo Farmers Network Working Group, the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Saang District Administration, the District Agriculture Office, commune heads throughout the district, village heads in all villages, and approximately 539 other farmers.

Dr. Kao Thach said that as the president of the Techo Farmers Network Association and as the delegate of the Royal Government in charge of the Rural and Agricultural Development Bank to serve the policies of the Royal Government, he knew that farmers faced several major difficulties: 1) farmers lacked capital for agricultural work, 2) farmers were able to produce crops but sold them poorly and at low prices, and 3) their farming was productive in some seasons and not so productive in others, and they were faced with climate change.

As farmers face problems in the agricultural sector and to avoid losses, Dr. Ban encouraged farmers to explore contract farming with local companies to ensure the price of agricultural products. In addition, His Excellency urged farmers to clearly understand the cost of production to make it easier to make decisions before selling their agricultural products. Otherwise, farmers’ farming will be difficult and profitable. In a situation where the world is facing problems with climate change and war, Dr. said that it is a time when Cambodia has a great opportunity to produce to replace imports from abroad and increase production for export to countries in need. Cambodia is small, but 65 percent of the Cambodian population is young, which is an important labor force. The World Bank has assessed that this is the wealth of the Khmer people. We must make the most of this wealth through agriculture, industry, etc.

The doctor said that This agricultural profession is not going away from Cambodia or will disappear. Farmers can still do agriculture to provide a better life for their families. But you need to find your own cost of production. Don’t do agriculture just for fun. Because doing this does not make a profit, especially in the period when the prices of fertilizers, animal feed, and oil are rising due to regional wars.

The doctor said that today’s meeting was aimed at promoting the Agricultural Technology Network Association to the community. This association was established with the following objectives: 1) to serve as a bridge for farmers to cross and 2) to serve as a shield for farmers.

The doctor emphasized that the role of this bridge is Farmers can access financial resources to do business in agriculture, farmers can access cultivation and breeding techniques, and act as a bridge to connect farmers to the market.
