Phnom Penh: Samdech Thep Mahathir Mohamad Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia and First Vice President of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, on the morning of May 15, 2026, presided over the 19th Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Day at the Koh Pich Theater.

The celebration of the 19th Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Day on this occasion is a national event that makes all Cambodians remember the great merits and invaluable sacrifices of soldiers, women and men, civil servants and patriots of all generations, especially grandfathers, grandmothers, uncles, aunts and fellow veterans and retirees who sacrificed their lives, minds and spirits for the cause of the nation and the homeland, bringing peace and development to this day. To the present day.

Of course, Cambodia has gone through war and genocide, leaving behind incalculable consequences. The historic victory of January 7, 1979, under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party, liberated the country and saved the lives of its people from disaster, and restored, built, and developed the Cambodian homeland to continue to prosper as it is today. This victory was truly a great contribution of our veterans and retirees, whose noble and noble contributions we all always remember.

In addition, in 1998, Samdech Techo Hun Sen successfully implemented the win-win policy, integrating all types of armed forces and all parties, including veterans, into the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the National Police, and veterans, thus achieving national unity and peace throughout the entire country. This has made all people always remember the bravery of veterans in protecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and developing the country to progress in all fields until now.

Based on the above merits, the Royal Government has paid great attention to veterans and retirees by implementing the National Policy for Veterans and Retirees, which shows its gratitude to veterans and retirees. Currently, there are a total of 177,281 veterans and retirees and a total of 177,877 dependents who are receiving monthly social security payments from the state, including 119,326 veterans and 162,398 dependents, and 57,955 former civil servants and 15,479 dependents.
