Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has instructed a team to carve out the events of the War for the Defense of National Sovereignty in 2025 at the Victory Monument to record the history and pain of the war.
The instructions of Prime Minister Hun Sen on the occasion of presiding over the celebration of the 19th anniversary of Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Day on May 12, 2026.
The Prime Minister continued that the team prepared to carve out three important aspects at the Victory Monument resulting from the Thai invasion of Cambodia in 2025.
The Prime Minister said “I discussed with His Excellency Tea Seiha to prepare an engraving of the events of the War to Defend National Sovereignty in 2025 to be placed there (at the Win-Win Monument) to be inscribed as our history.”
The Prime Minister added that the engraving was made from three aspects: the first aspect. The pain of the war of aggression, the second aspect. The heroism of the territorial defense forces, and the third aspect. The Khmer Grand Family Movement joins in supporting the territorial defense forces.
Please note that in relation to this war, the Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia affirm their firm, honest, and righteous commitment to fully and steadfastly respect and implement the Joint Declaration of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thai General Border Committee (GBC) of December 27, 2025, the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand of October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements in order to achieve rapid recovery and return to normalcy, peace, stability, and security for the people living along the border areas of the two countries.
