Health Minister highlights Cambodia’s key achievements before 185 member states

Phnom Penh: In front of 185 Member States at the plenary session of the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) in Geneva, Switzerland, Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, spoke about Cambodia’s major achievements in strengthening the health system after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The key achievements of Cambodia that Professor Chheang Ra addressed during the plenary session of the 79th World Health Assembly under the theme: “Global Health Reform: Shared Responsibilities” on 19 May 2026 include: strengthening primary health care systems, preventing health risks, preparing for and responding to health emergencies, calling for international solidarity, and supporting WHO reform.

On that occasion, the Minister also stated the Royal Government’s commitment to achieving universal health coverage by 2035.

The Minister highlighted that global health is at a critical juncture that will profoundly shape the future. The future of global health is based on building local capacity, equity and diversity.

Please note that the participation and intervention of His Excellency the Minister in the plenary session of the 79th World Health Assembly demonstrated Cambodia’s responsible leadership and clear vision in contributing to global health, as well as strengthening international cooperation to achieve the goal of “Global Health Reform: Shared Responsibility” in a sustainable manner.
