Phnom Penh: Through a press release, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia, said that on Saturday, May 23, 2026, the Coordination Group (CLG) of Cambodia coordinated with the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) led by the Head of Mission of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT HOM) Philippines to observe, verify and report on the border situation in the O Smach Pass area, Samrong city, Oddar Meanchey province, to review compliance and implementation of all measures in the joint declaration after the ceasefire came into effect.

Cambodia has always provided full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and stressed the indispensable importance of strengthening the role and mandate of the AOT to verify and ensure the implementation of the ceasefire as well as the measures agreed between Cambodia and Thailand in a full and effective manner, aiming to promote transparency, accountability and mutual trust, and always welcomes friendly countries that are willing to participate in this task further.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia would like to affirm their firm, sincere, and honest commitment to fully and steadfastly respect and implement the Joint Declaration of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thai General Boundary Committee (GBC) of December 27, 2025, the Joint Statement on the Cambodia-Thai Peace Agreement of October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements in order to move towards a speedy recovery. and a return to normalcy, peace, stability and security for the people living along the border of the two countries.
