Phnom Penh: The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense has denied the unsubstantiated Thai allegation that Cambodian soldiers caused a disturbance yesterday evening by firing twice in the Phnom Trat area, considering it “false information”.
A press release from the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense said that the liaison team of the 4th Military Region of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces on May 25, 2026, contacted the 2nd Thai Military Region to inquire and confirm the case of hearing a total of 8 gunshots on the night of May 24, 2026, which were suspected to have been fired from the Thai side, including 5 shots fired at 19:57 in the Phnom Trat area and 3 shots fired at 20:08 in the Phnom Sambok Khmum area, Preah Vihear province, in order for the Thai side to verify and tighten measures to control and strictly respect its military discipline. At the same time, the Ministry of National Defense also rejects the unsubstantiated slander that Cambodian soldiers caused disturbances yesterday evening by firing twice in the Phnom Trat area, considering it as false information and that the Cambodian army adhered to its discipline.
