Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that it was another step in strengthening national unity after Cambodian Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen issued a royal decree pardoning Kem Sokha.
On the evening of May 25, 2026, Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on Facebook: “Another step in strengthening national unity. Royal Decree pardoning the convict Kem Sokha, male, born in 1953, who was sentenced to 27 years in prison by the court pursuant to the final criminal judgment No. 790, Kr. XI “A.N” dated April 30, 2026 of the Phnom Penh Court of Appeals.
Please note that Mr. Kem Sokha was sentenced to 27 years in prison on March 3, 2023 for conspiring with a foreign country, under house arrest, and permanently deprived of his civil and political rights.
