Update on traffic accidents in Kampong Chhnang and Svay Rieng: The Ministry of Labor says that approximately 60 people have recovered and returned home, while ministry officials continue to visit hospitals in person to check on them.

Phnom Penh: As of 5:00 PM on May 25, 2026, approximately 60 workers have recovered and returned home, while those who were seriously and lightly injured and are currently receiving treatment are generally in good condition. This is according to Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Mr. Sun Mesa detailed that in the case in Kampong Chhnang province, 50 workers have returned home, while 9 are seriously injured and 14 are lightly injured, continuing to receive treatment in hospitals. In particular, in the case of Svay Rieng province, there are 9 workers who have returned home, while 3 are seriously injured, one of whom has been sent by his family to be treated in Vietnam, and 25 are lightly injured and are still receiving treatment at the hospital.

According to the same spokesperson, on May 24, 2026, HE Minister Heng Sour, the leadership of the Ministry and subordinate experts continue to coordinate, monitor, visit, and help to collect the injured workers’ belongings at various hospitals.

During his visit and examination at the National Hospital in Phnom Penh, Minister Heng Sour conveyed the Prime Minister and his wife’s condolences to the family. And the workers who are currently on medical leave, both of whom always pay attention to the workers.

Please note that two traffic accidents that occurred simultaneously on the morning of May 23, 2026 in Kampong Chhnang and Svay Rieng provinces resulted in the deaths of 14 workers and the injuries of approximately 100 others, both serious and minor.
