Kandal: Dr. Kao Thach, the Royal Government Delegate in Charge of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) and President of the Techo Farmers Network Association, on the afternoon of May 25, 2026, invited to meet and greet farmers in Ang Snuol District, Kandal Province.

The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Khon Serey Ratha, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, Mr. Nou Sovannrith, Governor of Ang Snuol District, Vice President and officials of the Office of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, agricultural officials from several communes, commune heads, village heads, and farmers, totaling 459 people.

On the occasion, Dr. Kao Thach explained to the farmers that the program to gather in Ang Snuol district today aims to provide the latest information and listen to their concerns on the agricultural sector. Although Ang Snuol district has a thriving economy in many industries and services, it has not forgotten agriculture, which needs to be cultivated more to improve the livelihoods of farmers and their daily lives.

Dr. Kao Thach He mentioned some theories that the Khmer were strong in agriculture: If we look at the pre-Angkor period and the Angkor period, then our Khmer agriculture during the Angkor period was 100 percent focused on agriculture, which made our Khmer economy strong at that time. In particular, there is evidence such as the water towers in the Angkor area and sculptures on some other temples that show that our Khmer became an agricultural empire from that time on, thanks to the great achievements of our Khmer ancestors.

In addition, Dr. He said that today, the agricultural sector is still one of the three pillars of the economy, including the textile and garment sector. Tourism and services, including agriculture, are in line with the sound policies of former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who transformed Cambodia from a rice-receiving country to a rice-exporting country in 2011 and set a target of exporting 1 million tons of rice to the world market in 2010.

In addition, rice production has continued to increase, which is evident in 2025. Cambodia has exported more than 940,000 tons of rice to the international market to more than 60 destinations, which proves that Cambodians have a strong agricultural bloodline. It is not far from agriculture. Whether it is animal husbandry, rice farming, or processing, it has helped boost the local economy.

In addition, Dr. Fadil appealed to farmers in Ang Snuol district and other farmers to be aware of the cost of production. By saving costs, farming is not a loss. At the same time, the rise in global oil prices and chemical fertilizers has pushed agricultural costs higher, so farmers must turn to producing natural fertilizers together to reduce costs.

Finally, farmers can consider joining the Techo Farmers Network Association, which is (1) a bridge to find sources of finance, access to new techniques and information, Transmit the voices and concerns of farmers to leaders, and serve as a bridge to other opportunities, and (2) act as an umbrella or shield for farmers, that is, participate in protecting the rights or legality of farmers or protect them from abuses and profits against farmers.
