Spokesperson: Government leaders always adhere to the policy of national reconciliation

Phnom Penh: Mr. Pen Bona, spokesman for the Royal Government, said that the leadership of the Royal Government of the Cambodian People’s Party always adheres to the policy of reconciliation and national unification to strengthen the unity of the Khmer people.

The spokesman’s statement came after Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Acting Head of State, in the name and under the royal command, signed a royal decree pardoning Mr. Kem Sokha on May 25, 2026, at the request of Samdech Thip Dei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, to the King. The President considers the pardon of Kem Sokha as a further step in strengthening national unity.

In a statement on the Cambodian-Thai border situation on May 26, 2026, Mr. Pen Bona stated that “the leadership of the Royal Government of the Cambodian People’s Party, from the era of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister, to Samdech Techo Hun Manet, current Prime Minister, has always adhered to the policy of reconciliation and national unification to strengthen the unity of the Khmer nation through the art of virtuous and compassionate leadership.”

The spokesman added that the end of the war, which lasted nearly three decades, through Samdech Techo’s win-win policy, brought complete peace and genuine reconciliation and national unification in late 1998, allowing Cambodians of all stripes to Can live together under the roof of the Royal Government, the Constitution and the unity of one territory under the shadow of the King, which has not happened in the last 500 years. This clearly shows the art of skillful leadership and high virtues of the Royal Government leaders of the Cambodian People’s Party.

He said that this noble virtue has been preserved and continued from generation to generation, making the Royal Government leaders of the Cambodian People’s Party respect, love and support from all walks of life, and the Cambodian People’s Party still stands strong as the party leading the Royal Government and remains an indispensable choice for Cambodian people, both in the past, present and future.
