Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has been continuing its campaign on “Preventing and Curbing Child Labor and Improving Working Conditions for Young Workers Nationwide by 2026” through collaboration between the Department of Labor and local authorities, visiting brick-and-tile manufacturing and agro-industrial businesses in Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces to strengthen the implementation of labor laws, International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions, and legal standards.
This grassroots outreach is aimed at raising awareness and raising awareness about the wider impacts of child labor, as well as encouraging participation from all relevant parties in monitoring and immediately reporting any suspected cases. In addition, the Ministry of Labor also strongly encourages territorial authorities, craft communities and the agro-industrial sector to work together to prevent and eliminate all forms of slavery, severe forms of child labor and hazardous work to ensure high work efficiency and true protection of children’s rights.
In parallel with the implementation of this campaign, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training Measures have also been issued to guide all business owners and employers to fulfill the obligation to register all workers and employees as members of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to ensure maximum benefits and social protection. In addition, employers must promptly register in the Ministry of Labor’s Enterprise Data Automation System (LACMS) correctly as specified.
The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has strongly appealed to the public and all relevant parties to join hands in committing to ending all forms of child labor in Cambodia. In case of encountering or suspecting the use of illegal child labor, please report it as soon as possible via Hotline 1297 or 1286 or via the anonymous complaint box so that the Ministry’s technical team can take strict legal action in a timely manner.
