Update on traffic accidents in Kampong Chhnang and Svay Rieng: The Ministry of Labor says more than 70 people have recovered and returned home, while experts continue to provide direct attention to hospitals.

Phnom Penh: As of 5:00 PM on May 26, 2026, more than 70 workers have recovered and returned home, while the seriously and lightly injured are currently receiving treatment and are in good condition. This is according to Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Mr. Sun Mesa said that in the case in Kampong Chhnang province, 53 workers returned home, while 9 were seriously injured and 11 were slightly injured. Continuing to receive treatment at the hospital. In the case of Svay Rieng province, 19 workers have returned home, while 1 was seriously injured, one of whom was sent by his family to be treated in Vietnam, and 17 were lightly injured, continuing to receive treatment at the hospital.

According to the same spokesperson, on May 24, 2026, Minister Heng Sour, the ministry’s leadership and subordinate experts continue to coordinate, monitor, visit, and help bring the injured to various hospitals.

During his visit and examination at the National Hospital in Phnom Penh, Minister Heng Sour conveyed the condolences of the Prime Minister and his wife to the families and fellow workers who are receiving treatment, and that both of them always pay attention to the workers.

Please note that two traffic accidents that occurred simultaneously on the morning of May 23, 2026 in Kampong Chhnang and Svay Rieng provinces resulted in the deaths of 14 workers and approximately 100 others with serious and minor injuries.
