Battambang: Senior Minister Keo Remy, Chairman of the Cambodian Human Rights Commission, encouraged young people to fully participate in military service, considering that “this is an opportunity to contribute to protecting the integrity of the territory.”

Senior Minister Keo Remy’s remarks after Samdech Techo Hun Sen The Acting Head of State on May 23, 2026 issued a Royal Decree to implement the law on “Military Conscription”.
At the opening ceremony of the workshop “Dissemination of the National Report on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Mechanism” on May 26, 2026, the Senior Minister encouraged young people to fully participate in military service, considering this an opportunity to contribute to protecting the integrity of the territory as well as to strengthen both physical and mental health, and to avoid believing any unfortunate propaganda intended to undermine the strengthening of Cambodia’s national defense by the enemy.

The Senior Minister asked to continue to trust and rely on the Royal Government to resolve all issues and to unite in solidarity with the Royal Government in protecting and building the nation for steady progress.
Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue, the Senior Minister stated that the Cambodian Human Rights Committee has actively participated with the Royal Government in protecting the territorial integrity and freedoms of the Cambodian people by issuing petitions condemning and filing complaints with 60 regional and international human rights mechanisms, as well as carrying out human rights missions at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. In March 2026 as well.
Meanwhile, the Senior Minister also added that the Cambodian leadership, both Samdech Techo and Samdech Thip Dei, have placed great value on the lives, safety, and livelihoods of all people by exercising maximum restraint and the option of resolving problems peacefully and based on international law.
