Cambodia, Laos strengthen cooperation in health sector

Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, and Mr. Sonexay Vannaxay, Ambassador of Laos to Cambodia, met to discuss strengthening cooperation in the health sector, especially cooperation in border provinces between the two countries.

Professor Minister Confirms Cambodian Ministry of Health’s Preparedness In continuing to work with the Embassy and the Lao Ministry of Health to promote the preparation of a new Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries’ health ministries, focusing on the prevention and control of infectious diseases, especially malaria, in border provinces, and timely response to health emergencies, especially at border crossings, as well as strengthening joint capacity to implement international health regulations through joint training, assessment, and exchange of practical health information.

In addition, the two sides agreed to directly exchange knowledge between the health departments of the border provinces through regular communication, organizing joint exercises on-site, and sharing experiences from border infectious disease cases to strengthen joint preparedness and response capabilities more effectively.

The Ministry of Health welcomes the initiative to organize a joint exhibition of medicines and medical equipment To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Cambodia-Laos diplomatic relations and continue to support each other within the framework of ASEAN, Mekong-Laos and Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam cooperation.
