Phnom Penh: Dr. Kun Nhim, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister and Director General of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, said that ASEAN Customs Administrations have jointly committed to strengthening regional trade facilitation, supply chain resilience and customs modernization.

Dr. Kun Nhim presented the results of the 35th ASEAN Customs Directors-General Meeting, hosted by Cambodia from 2-4 June 2026, stating that the 35th ASEAN Customs Directors-General Meeting reaffirmed the commitment of ASEAN Customs administrations to strengthen regional trade facilitation.
He said, “The 35th ASEAN Customs Directors-General Meeting issued a joint statement, highlighting the commitment of ASEAN Customs administrations to strengthen regional trade facilitation, supply chain resilience and customs modernization, while the world is facing new challenges such as geopolitical tensions, conflicts in the Middle East, etc., which continue to affect international trade.”
Dr. Kun Nhim added that the ASEAN Customs Directors-General also reaffirmed their efforts to expand the digitalization of customs procedures through the ASEAN Single Window system. , welcomed the progress of key regional initiatives, including: the establishment of AEO MRA among regional customs administrations and the further expansion of AEO-MRA with ASEAN partner customs administrations, expanding the scope of the ASEAN Customs Transit System in the region, and exploring connectivity with China.

Please note that Dr. Kun Nhim led the 35th ASEAN Customs Directors-General Meeting at Raffles Le Royal Hotel, Phnom Penh from 2-4 June 2026. The meeting was attended by delegations from customs administrations of all ASEAN member countries. In particular, a delegation from the Thai Customs Administration joined the meeting via video conferencing. This is the third time that the Director-General of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia has hosted the ASEAN Customs Directors-General Meeting since Cambodia joined ASEAN in 1999.
