The King asks the Vietnamese Prime Minister to adjust procedures for direct transit of goods between the two countries.

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has proposed to Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung to revise procedures for direct transit of goods between the two countries to reduce transit times.

The President’s proposal was made during a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on the occasion of the President’s official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) on June 8, 2026 in Hanoi.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Prime Minister highly appreciated Cambodia’s rapid progress in all sectors and expressed his strong confidence that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Cambodia will continue to achieve many more major developments and achievements.

In particular, the King congratulated Vietnam on its high economic growth and believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Government, Vietnam will achieve the two Millennium Development Goals by 2030 and 2045.

The two heads of government expressed satisfaction and high appreciation for the excellent progress of relations and cooperation in all fields between Cambodia and Vietnam, and agreed to organize various events in a grand manner to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027.

At the same time, the two heads of government agreed and strongly committed to continue to promote bilateral relations to a deeper level and reach a new level in the spirit of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability.

The two leaders also discussed and exchanged views on promoting cooperation in key areas including: politics, economy, trade and investment, national security and defense, education and vocational training, health, tourism, culture, energy, Infrastructure connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. The President underlined the importance of accelerating the decision on the connection points of the Phnom Penh-Bavet and Ho Chi Minh-Moc Bai expressways, the connection of waterways, and the expansion of additional flights between the two countries.

Additionally, in the economic sector and trade, the Prime Minister proposed adjusting the procedures for direct transit of goods between the two countries to reduce transportation time.
