Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen said that in this mandate, in addition to establishing schools and creating free educational programs, the Royal Government has also provided additional funding for people with poor cards.

Prime Minister Hun Sen’s statement was made on the occasion of the 9th National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Day 2026 under the theme “TVET provides skills, jobs and income” to promote technical and vocational education and training and to disseminate information to students, youth, parents, guardians and the private sector to understand the importance of technical and vocational education and training on June 15, 2026 at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center.

On that occasion, the Prime Minister highlighted that currently, the Focus on 8 majors and plan to further expand to meet market needs. While the current situation is that schools are being pushed to provinces, districts, and communes for primary education.

Samdech Thibhotei Hun Manet said, “In this mandate, we see that in addition to just establishing schools and creating programs for free education, the Royal Government has also provided additional funding for people with poor ID cards. However, our development is moving forward, but creativity is needed to make our people, especially our youth, more capable. After an assessment by the Ministry of Labor, we also found that even though we have introduced programs to push to provinces with funding, there are still some children, some young people, who are still struggling to balance their ability to complete daily tasks at home and take the time to study.”

In that The Prime Minister also stated that, seeing the difficulties of young people as well as citizens, the Ministry of Labor has launched the mobile skills program by pushing the program to homes and districts and implementing it on a trial basis soon. He hopes that there will be participation from young people and citizens, especially children who need additional skills, and please pay attention to quality.

However, the Prime Minister also emphasized that all training should not be just about images or quantity, but should focus on quality because this quality will attract more learning because if you go to school and come back without knowing anything, the next day no one will come to learn. So, you must focus on quality and the preparation of teachers and lessons clearly.
