Phnom Penh: April 22, 2026-According to the 2025 Aviation Emissions Review by Cirium, a leading global aviation data and analytics provider, Vietjet has been recognized as the most emission-efficient airline operating in Southeast Asia. This achievement strengthens Vietjet’s position as one of the most efficient and sustainable airlines in the region.

These results are provided based on data collection based on the methodology Cirium’s EmeraldSky uses CO₂ per available seat kilometer (CO₂/ASK) as its primary metric – which reflects the amount of fuel an airline burns relative to the number of passengers it operates. According to the report, Vietjet recorded 64.5 grams of CO₂/ASK, ranking first in the Southeast Asian region, ahead of Singapore Airlines (66.7 grams), Lion Air (67.1 grams) and other airlines.

The ranking compares the emissions performance of flights operated entirely across Southeast Asia, where short-haul routes are prominent. And the average makes fuel efficiency more difficult to improve. Under comparable operating conditions, Vietjet’s ability to maintain the lowest emission intensity demonstrates its strength in improving flight operations across the entire value chain, from aircraft configuration and network planning to load management.

The new generation fleet forms an important basis for Vietjet’s carbon footprint implementation. The airline operates mainly Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, including the latest “NEO” variants, which offer approximately 15-20% fuel savings compared to previous generation models. With one of the youngest fleets in the region, Vietjet has improved fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions per flight. Along with fleet investments, Vietjet is increasing the use of technology across its operations, from flight data analytics software like SkyBreathe to fuel efficiency initiatives like SFCO₂, which improve efficiency across its entire network.

Vietjet was previously named among the top 7 airlines in the world for sustainability in 2025 by AirlineRatings, recognizing its efforts in reducing carbon emissions, fuel efficiency, and transitioning to green growth. Vietjet has also received ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) recognition in markets such as Taiwan.

The Flight Emissions Review is an annual ranking by Cirium that provides an independent assessment of the world’s 100 largest airlines based on actual operational data. It allows for transparent comparison of emissions performance across airlines by scale and geographic region, serving as a benchmark for the global aviation industry.

For Cambodian travelers, Vietjet offers connectivity to Vietnam and beyond while promoting more sustainable travel options through its Siem Reap-Hanoi route. By combining operational efficiency with expanded connectivity, Vietjet not only strengthens tourism and economic ties between Cambodia, Vietnam and the broader Asia-Pacific region, but also supports the region’s transition towards more environmentally responsible aviation.
