Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Commerce recently decided to officially register four more potential products as “Geographical Indication (GI) marks,” an important step in promoting and enhancing the reputation and identity of Cambodian products on the international stage, protecting the intellectual property rights of the producer community, and increasing the potential for future registration in international markets.

The four products include:
1. Phnom Srok Golden Silk: A hand-woven handicraft product with fine, dense, shiny silk fibers and natural colors from a chemical-free production process.

2. Koh Kong Mud Crab: A saltwater crab from the mangrove forest area with a firm, dry, and sweet taste.

3. Kampong Thom Cashew Nut: Large, full-bodied, crunchy, long-lasting aroma, and a buttery or milky flavor of high quality.

4. Oddar Meanchey Mango: Mangoes have a firm, juicy, sweet and sour taste that can be processed into many types.

These products are produced and harvested in specific geographical areas with specific natural conditions and production techniques, creating a unique identity and quality, and have the potential to be recognized and protected in the international market.
