Authorities arrest several foreigners after fleeing from crackdown on online scams in Poipet

Banteay Meanchey: On May 5, 2026, the National Police’s specialized forces continued their operation to crack down on the hideouts of foreigners who escaped from the crackdown on online scams in Satara village, Poipet, Banteay Meanchey province.

This operation was carried out in accordance with the strict orders of General Sar Thet, Commissioner-General of the National Police, and led by Lieutenant General Muong Sothea, Deputy Commissioner-General of the National Police, Lieutenant General Yim Leang, Deputy Commissioner-General of the National Police, and Lieutenant General Sieng Sen, Deputy Commissioner-General of the National Police, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court.

The report said that during this morning’s operation, the National Police’s special forces raided two villas in Toul Prasat village, Poipet commune, Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province, arresting hundreds of foreigners and seizing pistols, cars and other items.
