Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the National Road Traffic Safety Committee (NRTS), on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, chaired a meeting to publicize the report summarizing the results of road traffic safety work for the year 2025 and to outline the work direction for 2026.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Peng Purna, Minister of Public Works and Transport and Permanent Vice-Chairman of the National Council of Transport, Ministry leaders, members, representatives of national and international organizations, and many private sector representatives. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Interior’s conference room and via Zoom video conferencing.

According to the National Traffic Safety Commission’s report on the 2025 enforcement of road traffic laws, authorities fined a total of 47,388 vehicles for violating the law, including motorcycles. 28,401 tricycles, equivalent to 60%, and 18,987 cars, equivalent to 40%. Meanwhile, a total of 2,345 accidents (58% of them) occurred, resulting in 1,467 deaths and 3,213 injuries (1,869 of them serious).

In 2025, compared to 2024, traffic accidents decreased by 499, or 18% (2,345/2 844 times) The number of deaths decreased by 42, equal to 3% (1,467/1,509 people) and the number of injuries decreased by 507, equal to 14% (3,213/3,720 people)

It should be noted that the number of traffic accidents that occurred, the number of deaths and injuries, has decreased compared to 2024 By 2025, this achievement did not happen by chance, but came from excellent collaboration and the active participation of relevant officials at the national and sub-national levels, national and international organizations, development partners, and the private sector.
