Phnom Penh: Minister of Health, Professor Chheang Ra, led the Ministry of Health’s technical working group to meet and discuss with a team of experts led by the World Health Organization representative in Cambodia in preparation for participating in the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) from May 18-23, 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The meeting chaired by Professor Chheang Ra on May 4, 2026, was to discuss and review the progress of preparing documents and selecting key intervention topics for the Cambodian Ministry of Health delegation to attend the 79th World Health Assembly.

Please note that the priority agenda that the Ministry of Health delegation is focusing on includes interventions: on the commitment to eliminate malaria, policies and strategies on tobacco product control, health systems with special emphasis on One Health, infectious disease control, especially risk factors, universal health coverage through primary health care, including mental health, people-centered health services, and human resource development.
At the same time, it also focuses on ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and safety of medical and allied products, health information systems, including digital health, quality immunization services, public health emergency preparedness plans, strengthening laboratory capacity, and patient and surgical safety.
