The Prime Minister urges simplification of customs and immigration procedures at Cambodia-Vietnam border crossings

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged the simplification of customs and immigration procedures at Cambodia-Vietnam border crossings to facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries.

President Hun Sen’s encouragement was made during a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on the afternoon of May 7, 2026, on the occasion of the invitation to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Republic of the Philippines, to be held on May 7-8, 2026.

During the meeting The Prime Minister highly appreciated the progress of Cambodia-Vietnam bilateral relations in all fields and underlined his strong commitment to promoting cooperation between the two countries to achieve even better results in the future.

The Prime Minister also reiterated the importance of continuing to implement additional measures to increase the volume of bilateral trade to reach the target. 20 billion US dollars and invited Vietnamese investors to continue to invest more in Cambodia.

The President stressed the importance of accelerating the location of the connection between the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh-Moc Bai Expressway for the benefit of the economy and travel of the people of both countries.

In addition, the King urged the simplification of customs and immigration procedures at border crossings to facilitate cross-border travel and the exchange of goods between the two countries.

The heads of government of the two countries also discussed a number of initiatives to strengthen and expand cooperation in key areas, including: politics, security and defense, economy, trade, energy, infrastructure connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
