Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Environment continues to encourage citizens to participate in preventing and reducing environmental pollution and to be aware of littering and plastic waste by distributing trash cans to local residents.

Dr. Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment, said this at the Ministry of Environment office on May 7, 2026 On the occasion of the official invitation to the ceremony of handing over 2,766 additional trash cans to the number of trash cans distributed to health facilities through the Ministry of Health in the past, a total of 3,155 trash cans to the Kampong Thom Provincial Administration to be distributed to schools and health facilities.

The Minister added that the Ministry of Environment will continue to distribute trash cans to provincial facilities in 2026 as a driving force in implementing the environmental sector cycle strategy that has been launched. In line with the policies and strategies of the Royal Government of Cambodia, which participate in reducing the amount of garbage and plastic waste, reducing pollution, environmental impacts, public health, and reducing the impacts of climate change from the grassroots level, as well as participating in attracting more tourists and investors to Cambodia.

At the same time, the Minister expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to the Kampong Thom provincial administration, as well as the support from ministries, relevant institutions, the capital and provincial administrations, local authorities, the armed forces, all kinds of authorities, organizations, associations, and civil society. National and international development and cooperation partners, as well as students, teachers and citizens, join the Ministry of Environment as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia in implementing their duties responsibly in managing natural resources and the environment so that Cambodia can achieve the goals of cleanliness, greenness and sustainability in line with the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1, the Chakra Strategy, the environment sector and sustainable development in Cambodia.

Please note that, as planned, the Ministry of Environment will provide trash cans to all schools A total of 55,500 bins are available for use in monasteries and health centers across the country to properly dispose of garbage.
