Phnom Penh: Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has urged relevant authorities to expedite the selection of a site for the construction of a bridge across the Ropov River (Cambodia)-Selamphao River (Laos).
Samdech Hun Sen’s encouragement was made during a working breakfast with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on the morning of May 8, 2026, on the occasion of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Republic of the Philippines.

During the meeting, the leaders of the three countries expressed satisfaction with the close relations and progress in cooperation in all fields, and highlighted the importance of the traditional breakfast meeting between the three prime ministers as a platform for exchanging information and further promoting strategic cooperation.

The leaders also emphasized that in a context where the regional and global situation continues to change in a complex manner, continuing to strengthen relations and expand cooperation between the three countries is increasingly important. The three leaders also discussed priorities and initiatives to further promote cooperation in the fields of politics, security and defense, economy and trade, investment, physical infrastructure connectivity, energy connectivity, and tourism connectivity, including increasing direct flights between the three countries.

On that occasion, His Excellency Emphasized the promotion of cooperation in strengthening supply chains, based on the respective strengths of the three countries. The King also highlighted the continued promotion of physical infrastructure connectivity to facilitate cross-border travel and the exchange of goods. With Laos, the King urged relevant authorities to expedite the selection of a site for the construction of a bridge across the Ropov River (Cambodia)-Selamphao River (Laos). With Vietnam, the King urged relevant authorities to expedite the identification of locations for the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and Ho Chi Minh-Moc Bai Expressway projects.
