Preah Vihear Province: Cambodian park rangers, in collaboration with local authorities, launched an operation to crack down on and destroy 08 illegal charcoal kilns that were illegally built without permission in the protected area of Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, Preah Vihear Province.

The operation took place on the 16th May 2026, led by Mr. Tol Reth, the officer in charge of the joint management of Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, Preah Vihear Province, along with 07 park rangers and supported by Mr. Sam Bor, the sub-village head of Reaksa commune, Rovieng district.

The joint force team went down to the location directly Which is located at Dambok Paam (Registration No. 515321-1495811) in Lath Village, Raksa Commune, Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province. There, authorities found an illegally operating charcoal kiln and decided to immediately destroy it on the spot to prevent deforestation for charcoal production.
Experts pointed out that illegally building a charcoal kiln in this protected area is a serious violation of the law, which is in clear violation of the provisions of the “Environment and Natural Resources Code” of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
This type of crime not only destroys valuable forest resources, but also poses a high risk of loss of wildlife habitat and affects the entire ecosystem of Prey Lang, a large terrestrial tropical rainforest in Southeast Asia.
Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary authorities revealed that strict legal measures will continue to be implemented regularly, with increased patrols and close cooperation with local communities. To eliminate all encroachment and destruction of natural resources in the conservation area in a timely manner.
