Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, met with Ambassador Ke Sovann, Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss work, understand the situation and promote relations in the health sector between Cambodia and Switzerland.

In the meeting between the two parties held on the afternoon of May 17, 2026 at the Permanent Mission of Cambodia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland, in addition to discussing the health sector, the two parties also focused on the European Union countries ahead of the 79th World Health Assembly under the theme “Global Health Reform: Shared Responsibilities” which will be held from May 18 to 23, 2026.
The meeting also reviewed the preparation of strategies and important documents that the Cambodian delegation will raise for discussion at the 79th World Health Assembly. The two sides focused on national priorities, including: accelerating progress towards universal health coverage, the commitment to eliminate malaria, and the implementation of the One Health initiative, among other important issues.

The Minister highlighted Cambodia’s commitment In joining the international community to respond to global health challenges, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of Geneva in supporting Cambodia’s health diplomacy efforts.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health of Cambodia and the Permanent Mission of Cambodia to the United Nations will continue to work closely together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and promote the well-being of the Cambodian people.
