Sihanoukville: Oknha Tea Vichet, head of the Cambodian People’s Party branch of the Sihanoukville Provincial Water Tourism Agency, has dispatched a rescue team and a high-speed ferry to pick up a victim who capsized a long-tail fishing boat at 1:00 a.m. on May 18, 2026.
Oknha Tea Vichet said that there was only one victim who capsized the boat. After the incident, he swam in the middle of the sea and was seen by a nearby fishing boat and pulled onto the boat. He then reported to the tycoon to help rescue him and bring him safely to the mainland.
The victim is named Muon Mom, a male fisherman, from Prey Sla village, Prey Pno commune, Pearaing district, Prey Veng province.
According to the victim, the cause of the boat sinking was heavy rain, strong winds, and large waves. He turned the boat around in an attempt to return home, but unfortunately, the waves hit his boat and caused it to sink.
The victim has been rescued safely and is not in any danger.
