Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of May 18, 2026, at the ministry’s office, Mr. Huot Sined, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, led a technical consultation meeting with relevant ministries and institutions on the draft law on occupational safety and health, which was attended by leaders and experts from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Interior and the Council of Ministers, a total of 50 people.

This meeting was organized to continue reviewing and discussing the content of the draft law on occupational safety and health at a technical level, especially on the points where relevant ministries and institutions have provided input to ensure the consistency of legal provisions.

On that occasion, Mr. Huot Sined spoke about the necessity of preparing a draft “Law on Occupational Safety and Health” in accordance with international labor standards and best practices in the ASEAN region and developed countries that order goods from Cambodia. He added that the Occupational Safety and Health Act focuses on protecting the safety and health of workers, promoting a good working environment, and preventing occupational accidents and diseases.

At the same time, he also informed the meeting of Cambodia’s obligations regarding respect for labor rights, working conditions, and occupational safety and health conditions as a member of the International Labor Organization (ILO). By establishing a legal framework and strengthening the implementation of laws and regulations related to occupational safety and health.


As a result, the meeting supported the preparation of the draft law on occupational safety and health and committed to continue to review and provide comprehensive advice on the draft law on occupational safety and health.
