Phnom Penh: Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Mr. Khuon Phonrattanak, said that the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement is an important mechanism for promoting bilateral trade and investment.
Mr. Khuon Phonrattanak made this statement during a meeting with Mr. Yeo Han-Koo, Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Korea, at the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 19, 2026.
The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN and exchanged views on a number of necessary mechanisms to help promote trade growth between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN.
Mr. Yeo Han-Koo Expressed Korea’s commitment to promoting the Korea-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible.
Seizing the opportunity, the Ambassador welcomed Korea’s commitment to accelerating the Republic of Korea-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. The Ambassador also informed the Korean Minister of Trade that Cambodia and the Republic of Korea have a Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement, which has been in effect since 2022 and is an important mechanism for promoting bilateral trade and investment.
Mr. Khuon Phonrattanak also proposed promoting the implementation of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement to facilitate the export and import of goods between the two countries.
