Phnom Penh: Dr. Kao Thach, President of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) and the Royal Government Delegate in Charge of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), was invited to chair and deliver the opening remarks of the regional roundtable discussion on “Blended Finance: In Search of Effective Solutions” via online system on Friday afternoon, May 29, 2026, organized by State Development Corporation VEB.RF and ADFIAP, and attended by senior representatives of State Development Bank Corporation VEB.RF, PT Saran Multi Infrastruktur (Indonesia), Convergence, Development Bank of Oman, ARDB, Development Bank of Japan, Japan Economic Research Institute and some key ADFIAP members.

In his opening remarks at the forum, Dr. Aung San Suu Kyi said that to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the world needs approximately US$4.3 trillion, of which the Asia and Pacific region needs approximately US$1.5 trillion. However, the sustainable development financing gap is still large, which requires additional participation from the private sector and development partners through the use of blended financing mechanisms.
