Phnom Penh: His Excellency President Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Honorary President of the Cambodian National Council for Children, has instructed all parties to work together to prevent all forms of exploitation and abuse of children in an appropriate and timely manner.
In a letter on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of International Children’s Day on June 1, the 25th anniversary of World Day Against Child Labor on June 12, and Cambodian Children’s Day 2026, President Hun Manet said that the Cambodian National Council for Children must continue to coordinate and strengthen the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as disseminate and strengthen the implementation of legal documents related to child protection with ministries, institutions, development partners, and civil society in a comprehensive and effective manner.
The President continued that The Cambodian National Council for Children and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation must promote the preparation of a draft law on child protection in the Kingdom of Cambodia and promote the implementation of the National Action Plan on Preventing and Responding to Violence against Children 2025-2030.
The Prime Minister emphasized that “ministries, institutions, competent authorities, parents, guardians, communities and children must cooperate to find solutions and create strategies to change social attitudes towards violence against children through positive education and discipline for children, and must jointly address and prevent all forms of exploitation and abuse of children in an appropriate and timely manner.”
The Prime Minister added that relevant ministries, institutions, territorial authorities at all levels, development partners, local and foreign non-governmental organizations must pay attention to promoting children’s rights and participate in the opinions of children. Every time laws, policies, and legal documents are developed that are relevant to the lives, needs, challenges, and concerns of children.
