Phnom Penh: Samdech Maha Bovorathi Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Honorary Chairman of the Cambodian National Council for Children, said that children are indeed a valuable and indispensable resource for the development of the country.
Through Facebook on the morning of June 1, 2026, Samdech Maha Bovorathi Hun Manet congratulated the 77th anniversary of International Children’s Day (June 1) under the theme: “Peace is the foundation of respecting and protecting children’s rights.”
The President continued that the celebration of International Children’s Day is to commemorate the implementation of children’s fundamental rights and to demonstrate the government’s attention to solving children’s problems and challenges, especially preventing and responding to violence against children, child labor, and online child safety. By supporting children who are victims and vulnerable to risks, threats, exploitation and abuse in a timely and effective manner, so that children can live and develop harmoniously under the shade of peace.
The King emphasized, “Of course, children are a valuable and indispensable resource for the development of the nation. In fact, the first phase of the Royal Government’s Pentagon Strategy has identified “people” as the highest priority sector among the five priorities.”
The King continued, “Therefore, investing in the well-being, safety and development of children today is building a strong foundation of human capital with the potential to drive Cambodia’s development momentum to greater progress and prosperity in the future.”
