Phnom Penh: June 1, “International Children’s Day,” celebrated annually, is a meaningful opportunity to commemorate the rights, well-being, and future of children around the world. In addition to the celebrations, the day also plays an important role in promoting the improvement of educational infrastructure and learning materials.

Dr. Chea Monirith, President of the Cambodian Development Researchers Association, stated that Since 2017, he has taken the opportunity of International Children’s Day to mobilize donations from philanthropists, civil society, and local communities to donate funds and materials to support schools.

This contribution has resulted in significant improvements in educational materials such as textbooks, computers, teaching tables, and science experiment equipment. Which enables children to receive high-quality education suitable for the 21st century.

At the same time, International Children’s Day has also encouraged the construction and renovation of many kindergarten and primary school buildings. Strong, safe and well-equipped school buildings are essential for a comfortable learning environment. Improved classrooms, bathrooms, and playgrounds have made it easier for young children to come to school and receive a safer education.
In addition to education, physical development has also received attention.

Sports equipment donated to schools on International Children’s Day, including footballs, basketballs, skipping ropes, and other exercise equipment, has encouraged children to be active in sports, improve their health, and and building a sense of solidarity through team play.
International Children’s Day is not just a day of celebration, but also an encouragement to invest in the next generation of human resources.
