Kuwait says air defense system intercepts enemy missile and drone attacks

Foreign: Kuwait’s state news agency KUNA reported, citing the country’s military, which did not say where the threats came from, only that Kuwait’s air defenses intercepted enemy missile and drone attacks on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, published on June 3, 2026, the KUNA news agency quoted the army’s chief of staff as saying that any explosions heard were caused by interceptions and urged the public to follow safety instructions and avoid debris or unidentified objects.

The statements came shortly after Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in the Qeshm Island region, without saying what caused them.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry also said warning sirens had been sounded and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and go to the nearest safe place.

Kuwait has reported several enemy missile and drone attacks in recent days, including an incident it later described as Iranian, but it did not identify the source of the threat on Wednesday.
