Ministry of Labor and related partners expand campaign against child labor and promote decent work

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has expanded the campaign to promote the “Prevention and Suppression of Child Labor and Improving Working Conditions for Young Workers” from March to May 2026 to all capitals and provinces nationwide in 2026, with collaboration between the provincial and capital labor and training departments and local authorities through direct inspections and outreach to brick-and-tile manufacturing and agro-industrial enterprises to enhance the implementation of labor laws, International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions, and legal standards related to child labor.

In accordance with the Declaration of the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labor held in Marrakesh, Morocco, the Ministry of Labor continues to make high-level commitments to cooperate with international labor organizations and relevant parties to promote decent work, strengthen the effectiveness of law enforcement, and strictly implement the policy of “zero tolerance for child labor and forced labor.”

This campaign aims to raise awareness and raise awareness about the wider impacts of child labor, as well as to encourage participation from all relevant parties in monitoring and immediately reporting any suspected cases. In addition, the Ministry of Labor also strongly encourages territorial authorities, craft communities, and the agro-industrial sector to work together to prevent and completely eliminate all forms of slavery, severe forms of child labor, and hazardous work to ensure high work efficiency and true protection of children’s rights.

Along with the implementation of this campaign, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has also issued measures to guide all business owners and employers to fulfill the obligation to register all workers and employees with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to ensure maximum benefits and social protection. In addition, employers must promptly register in the Ministry of Labor’s Automated Corporate Management System (LACMS) correctly as specified.

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has strongly appealed to the public and all relevant parties Let’s commit together to ending all forms of child labor. In case of encountering or suspecting the use of illegal child labor, please report it as soon as possible via the hotline 1297 or 1286 or via the anonymous complaint box so that the ministry’s technical working group can take strict legal action in a timely manner.
