Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen told the United States that Cambodia will continue to fight online scams until these criminal groups are completely eliminated from the country.

Statement by Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the occasion of allowing Christopher Landau, Deputy Secretary of State of the United States, to pay a courtesy call and discuss work on June 9, 2026, on the occasion of an official visit and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi, the capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Deputy Secretary of State expressed his satisfaction with the progress of relations between the United States and Cambodia and emphasized that the two countries still have many opportunities to jointly promote closer and deeper bilateral cooperation.
The Deputy Secretary also highly valued the achievement of the historic “Open Horizons Agreement” between the United States and Cambodia, which will help further promote bilateral relations and cooperation.

At the same time, he expressed his satisfaction with the support of the Royal Government of Cambodia, which has facilitated the investment and expansion of American investment companies in Cambodia, which has contributed significantly to the socio-economic development of Cambodia. In addition, the Deputy Minister said that Cambodia is a country with great potential in the tourism sector because Cambodia has a rich and famous culture worldwide.
In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his pleasure and high appreciation for the progress and good results of Cambodia-US relations and cooperation, and affirmed that Cambodia will continue to promote relations and cooperation between the two countries even stronger.
At the same time, the Samdech Techo also highlighted to His Excellency the Deputy Minister the introduction of necessary policies and measures by the Royal Government of Cambodia to support and ensure the success of the private sector as well as foreign companies operating in Cambodia.
The Royal Government of Cambodia has also been working hard to develop infrastructure and logistics connectivity By expanding the capacity of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port and building the Funan Techo Canal, a multi-purpose water resources management project, the aim is to increase Cambodia’s transportation efficiency, enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness, create jobs, and promote sustainable socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister and the Deputy Minister also exchanged views on the fight against transnational crime. The Prime Minister highlighted the Royal Government’s strong measures and cooperation with other countries, including the United States, in combating cybercrime. The Prime Minister emphasized that “this measure will continue to be implemented regularly until these criminal groups are completely eliminated from Cambodia.” The Deputy Minister highly appreciated Cambodia’s strong measures.
