Siem Reap: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the acting head of state of Cambodia, has declared that so far no one in the international community believes that “Cambodia will invade Thailand.”
During a meeting with provincial, city, district, commune, and organization leaders around Siem Reap-Udom Manchey on June 10, 2026, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that using force to resolve the border issue is not Cambodia’s choice, so he addressed Thai journalists who spread false information and created misunderstandings.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said, “I said that if we use a military solution, for example, if we fight to take back the territory, the first bullet will be Cambodia’s failure in political and diplomatic affairs. That will be the first bullet fired because, well, we are the ones violating the ceasefire. And we have destroyed all the so-called international trust in us.”
Samdech Techo continued, “At this time, no one in the international community believes that Cambodia will invade Thailand. To be honest, there is no small country that will defeat the big country.”
Samdech Techo also recalled that the Thai army announced that because Cambodia has been on Thai soil for 30 or 40 years, Thailand has used force to take back its land. This means that “the invaders have opened fire first.”
Please note that Thailand’s two acts of aggression against Cambodia were on July 24 and December 7, 2025. Clearly demonstrates the blatant violation of international law.
